Jose Mourinho blasts Barcelona following Champions League exit
Jose Mourinho is not one to go home quietly after a painful defeat. Instead, the former Barcelona assistant coach (and translator) usually prefers to complain about poor refereeing, various unfair elements or, if the two previous reasons didn’t apply, simply start attacking others without hesitation.
The Chelsea manager went on record to wish that Manchester City knock Barca out of the Champions League next week only minutes after his own side fell at the very same hurdle, losing to Paris Saint Germain on away goals difference. It is perhaps time for Mourinho to stop worrying so much about Barcelona and focusing on ensuring his players are better prepared in their next attempt at winning the Champions League next time.
While stats don’t really mean much in football, it is worth noting that Barca actually went on to win the European Cup the previous two times Mourinho’s sides were knocked out in the last 16 (2006, 09) — a sign of better things to come for the Catalans?
