Luis Enrique was more than happy with Barcelona’s 1-2 victory at the Vicente Calderon against Atletico Madrid. The Asturian explained: “I liked our play throughout the game. We both wanted to win, but we were very good from the start, very consistent and very focused. We dominated both phases of the game and turned the tables when things looked grim. It’s great for you when you can keep a team like Atlético from creating chances. We had a huge game. We have a tough schedule and it’s very important to beat a direct rival. But we still have a lot to do,”
“Lionel Messi? He’s key for us and we have to take care of him. We knew he had been travelling we wanted to reserve him for later in the game. We have a deep squad and that’s important.”

La Masia graduate Sergi Roberto excelled as right-back once again. However, his first words were to praise Lionel Messi: “There is nobody like Leo. He’s a father again, he could not train with us, but today he decided the game. We are proud to have him on the team. The team played very well the whole match and Leo was decisive when he came in.”
“From a personal point of view, I am very happy. I think I played well and I was able to help the team both on attack and defence. Adding the three points is the most important. I hope to continue helping the team.”
“Atlético Madrid’s field is very complicated especially when coming from an international break. The team was perfect and we were able to take home the three points. We now have three victories and we hope to continue on like this.”
“It’s true we have two tough away games but now we only have one. We’re thinking about Roma and the Champions League because it is always important to start off with a win.”
