Christian Pulisic is the most talented footballer to come out of America in recent years. The 19-year-old, who is currently impressing for Borussia Dortmund in Germany, is capable of impacting games whether he is deployed as a winger or an attacking midfielder — and his heroics of late have definitely not gone unnoticed by major European clubs.
With Pulisic having reportedly turned down interest from Liverpool in the previous transfer window, rumours indicating that the youngster is in fact awaiting offers from Barcelona or Real Madrid have, unsurprisingly, intensified in the last few hours.
Pulisic can already boast an impressive 65 professional appearances for Dortmund since making his European debut the 2015/16 season, having added 10 goals in the process. With an average 2.1 shots, 1.3 key passes, 2.9 dribbles, 23.3 passes and 86% pass success rate per game, it is clear that the American’s 7.52 WhoScored rating is fully deserved.
Undoubtedly, Pulisic is excelling at Dortmund given his full adaptation to his current environment, teammates and formation. At 19 years of age, the benefits that moving to a major club such as Barcelona at this point remain unclear given the fierce competition he would face for playing time at the Catalan club. However, the Barca directors should definitely keep an eye on the progress that the teenager has made in Germany in the last couple of seasons as, evidently, the USA international is set to become one of the stars of the future.
With that in mind, and as much as American Culés would love to see their most promising youngster at the Camp Nou in the near future, it is perhaps best for Pulisic to continue developing into the world-class, dominant player he has the potential to become at Dortmund — until he is fully ready to become a regular at Barcelona, that is.
