Yet, from a purely footballing perspective and politics notwithstanding, Girona’s upset of Real Madrid in Catalonia must have turned some heads.
The other La Liga team from the region not named Barcelona or Espanyol topped the defending Champions League winners in a match that dropped Los Blancos further down the table.
