Top 5: Fati to Spain, Dembélé returns, and Barcelona’s One Billion

Fati with Griezmann

Spain upsets Barcelona over Ansu Fati

As we talked about in this week’s podcast, the most important thing to Ansu Fati’s career is to play as much as possible this season, regardless of the level.

Barcelona doesn’t seem to agree though. Ernesto Valverde said during his press conference before Granada that he would rather have Fati around the first team than sending him to the U-17 World Cup with Spain. Does this mean that Valverde plans on continuing to use the 16-year-old or it is that Barcelona simply believes the best thing for him is staying in Catalonia for the next few months?

Ousmane Dembélé returns to training

It seems like Dembélé will need to earn his playing time again with Fati breaking out in the last few weeks. Crazy to think that Fati only got his recent opportunities because of the injuries to Dembélé, Lionel Messi, and Luis Suárez. Having all these forward options, plus Antoine Griezmann, is a great problem to have.

Will we see the new “trident” in La Liga?

La Liga could see the trident of Griezmann, Suárez, and Messi for the first time this season. Messi’s cameo against Borussia Dortmund was a pleasant sign and hopefully that means the extra time he took for his recovery has him back and ready for 90 minutes.

Messi debuts clothing line

Dani Alves is well-known as an aficionado of fashion and Gerard Piqué’s off-field exploits are well chronicled, but it looks to be Messi’s turn. Inspired by the colors of FC Barcelona and Argentina, Messi debuted his clothing line, fittingly named “Messi”.

Barcelona pocket one billion in income

One billion euros is a lot of money. New sponsors and improved renewal agreements are the main cause of the increase, but this accomplishment should be taken with a grain of salt. For all the team made, they are set to make just 11 million euros after tax as profit.
