Last season’s fourth kit, which is based on the four red stripes of the Catalan flag, the Senyera, honors the club’s Catalan identity. As the legend goes, a tale that became popular around the 14th century, the flag first came to be in the 9th century. The four red bars where said to be from Charles the Bald’s fingers, which were covered in the blood of Wilfred the Hairy and streaked across his golden shield. Wilfred the Hairy was the Count of Barcelona and was dying due to wounds suffered in 897 during the siege of Barcelona. Other legends connect figures such as Louis the Pious and Ramon Berenguer to the flag, but the story of Wilfred the Hairy is the most popular.
This season the home kit brings back memories of the glorious 2010-11 season. Some jerseys divide Culers, but this one seems to be quite agreeable with everybody. The black away kit and the pink third kit aren’t too shabby either.
Training kits from last season and this season are also available. Last season’s were simple and sleek, and this year’s is supposed to be inspired by the famous Catalan architect Antoni GaudÃ. Like La Sagrada Familia, Gaudà still unfinished masterpiece, Messi’s masterpiece at FC Barcelona is still not finished.
